MarineParents.com Travel Assistance

This is an outreach program of MarineParents.com. The mission of our Travel Assistance program is to support Marine Corps recruits by assisting one of his/her family members who shows significant financial need, to attend boot camp graduation events so the Marine is not alone.

4/22/2021 COVID-19 & GRADUATIONS

We are now accepting applications for Travel Assistance beginning with graduations 5/13 and 5/14. We are not able to provide assistance retroactively. Applying for travel assistance DOES NOT MEAN you are permitted to attend graduation. Your MARINE is responsible for inviting two guests to attend and for taking appropriate action to "approve" attendance at the graduation. You may apply for travel assistance from MarineParents.com during training weeks 10-11, for each depot as follows:

  • For MCRD San Diego: You MUST provide a copy of the graduation ticket sent to you by your recruit in order to apply for Travel Assistance.
  • For Parris Island: There are NO TICKETS at Parris Island; apply during training weeks 10 and 11. Application DOES NOT mean you are on the roster at the front gate; that is up to YOUR MARINE!

The Marine Corps has re-opened graduation ceremonies at both Parris Island and San Diego with limited number of guests by invitation only. In line with CDC guidelines, and to minimize the risk to depot personnel and visitors, access to the installation for graduation will be restricted to (2) guests per graduating Marine (guests will be selected by the Marine, not relatives/friends etc).

San Diego

Beginning with April 22, 2021 Graduation:

  • TWO Guests per graduating Marine, with invitation only.
  • 4/22 - 6/17 Graduations will be on THURSDAY
  • Beginning 6/25 Graduations return to FRIDAY
  • Family Day events remain closed at this time.

Parris Island

Beginning with May 7, 2021 Graduation:

  • TWO Guests per graduating Marine, your MARINE must put your name on the roster at the front gate. Applying for travel assistance does NOT mean your name is on the roster.
  • 5/7 - Graduations will be on Friday.
  • Family Day events remain closed at this time.

TRAVEL ASSISTANCE

If you need help with travel expenses for graduation or if you would like to learn more about how our Travel Assistance program works, please visit MarineParents.com/TA. We have been serving the Marine Corps and recruit family community for more than fifteen years.

FUNDRAISERS

MarineParents.com Travel Assistance raises funds for each boot camp Company every cycle (except during the COVID-19 Pandemic March 2020-April 2021 when attendance at graduations was temporatily suspended by the Marine Corps). We keep each group updated as our goals are reached and applicants request funds. These fundraisers are posted in our Official MarineParents.com Facebook groups for each boot camp company. This allows the members of our Facebook groups to assist other recruit families hoping to attend their soon-to-be-Marine's graduation.
